Yoga and ACUlove, match made in heaven

I am so excited that ACUlove will be bring together Yoga + Acupuncture for this special event.

If you are unfamiliar with this trend, read on!

YOGA AND ACUPUNCTURE ARE A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN WITH SIMILAR GOALS

Yoga and Acupuncture actually make a match made in heaven! They both aim to spread, move, and foster healing energy in the body. Yogis refers to this life energy as Prana, whereby Acupuncturist call it Qi. Yoga uses movement, breathing, and meditation to move energy to places that need nourishment in the body. Acupuncture uses the full picture of your health and symptoms to find areas of excess and deficiency, and then acu points are used to restore balance, move Qi and blood flow. and healing to the body.

ACUPUNCTURE AND YOGA HAVE A LONG HISTORY OF BEING MISUNDERSTOOD

Yoga is so much more than the poses people associate it to, and acupuncture is so much more than needles placed in the skin.

The word "Yoga" means "connection” or “union”. The practice of yoga provides an opportunity to integrate you body and your mind with your breath and your spirit.

While we often hear the yoga class and think of stretchy pants, incense and contortionists, but it is so much deeper than that. In fact, you don't even need to be on a mat to practice it. It has nothing to do with flexibility or strength or how deep or long you stay in a pose, if you practice yin or hatha. It is all your connection and pursuit of the main goals of the yogic way.

Acupuncture is quickly associated with being a human pin cushion and often wrapped in fears and discomfort. It is also most considered to be useful in treating pain condition. While this misconception could not be further from the truth. Traditional Chinese medicine is a diverse practice and includes acupuncture, cupping, moxa, gua sha, herbs and more in the pursuit of healing the body. Often pain is a small fraction of the symptoms a TCM acupuncturist treats often alongside other condition.

Even acupuncture itself is more complicated than it may seem to the eye. When people watch me, they often learn there is subtle and gentle manipulation of the needle. Done in patterns or pulse or slight turns all designed to send the right message to the body.

SO WHY OFFER THEN TOGETHER?

Because they work in perfect harmony of course! By beginning to move the body, often slowly and mindfully, you will begin the process of moving the energy in the body. This brings the body out of the stress state we all operate our lives at, and into a more healing state. After the movement part of the session is complete, you will take a resting pose and acupuncture will be performed. You may get a few needles in your hands, feet, head and face, depending on the class focus. As you rest for 15- 20 minutes, the needles will work smoothly with the healing energy your yoga practice has built up.
